CEDAR TREE RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION - CURRENT PROJECTS

Groundwork Coventry and Warwickshire

Dear Cedar Tree Residents Association

Re: Camphill Primary School

Groundwork Coventry and Warwickshire, an environmental regeneration charity, has been undertaking a project at Camphill Primary School since September 2004 funded mainly by the Aggregates Levy Sustainability Fund (ALSF). The project focuses on the aggregates industry, and in particular quarrying in the local area, and involves an education element and landscape element. I have been working with a class of children with special educational needs for 1 afternoon a week to teach them about their industrial heritage and local environment in a fun way. As part of the project the children have been on visits to local quarry and landfill sites, and also to Dobbies World.

The landscape element of the project will see a quarry garden created in the school grounds which will be used as an outdoor classroom. As part of the work we are keen to involve the children and local community and therefore plan to hold an activity day on the 22 nd March 2005, which will involve planting, painting, and more. I am writing to see whether the Cedar Tree Residents Association, as members of the local community, would like to get involved and could possibly lend some assistance on the day. We will be inviting the local press along to report on the day and it would be really beneficial for Camphill to demonstrate local groups and local people all working together on something positive for the area.

I hope you are able to make it. If you would like to contact me for any further information or to have a chat please don't hesitate to phone me on 01676 524320.

Kind regards

Rebecca Davies
